Diversity, Equity, Inclusion

BK Natur(Ed) is our non-profit, started by the same folks that brought you Brooklyn Nature Days & Wonderforest Nature Preschool

BK Natur(Ed) is an intentionally supportive and creative learning community where students and teachers from all backgrounds, cultures, and experiences—including race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, socioeconomic class, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, and ability—play, discover, imagine, learn, and grow together.

We are committed to creating healthy, safe, play-based, nature-focused learning environments in which each individual participating feels honored and supported. We are committed to creating spaces where each student feels seen, safe, and included, and finds a safe and healthy space to learn and grow.

We are committed to building capacities of empathy, self-awareness, self-efficacy, and supporting each child as they develop the necessary skills to support and honor themselves and others.

Students in our programs are confident, creative problem solvers, prepared to meet a diverse world and a global community, made all the more vital and resilient because of each of their individual contributions to their communities and the natural world.

At BKNatur(ed) we are passionate about sharing the benefits of our nature-based outdoor approach to early childhood education with the greater public. Our overarching mission is to make nature based education accessible to a greater population of children in our city by:

  • Creating child-led, inquiry & play-based programming that utilizes city green spaces.

  • Raising substantial funds for tuition assistance to expand access to our programming for children across the city with an ultimate goal of making our programs tuition-free for all families.

  • Supporting schools and their teachers through professional development and consulting opportunities. Providing them with a tangible framework to bring nature & play based outdoor programming to the families and communities they serve.

BK Natur(ed) is a 501(c)3 charity. Your contributions are tax-deductible and may be eligible for a corporate matching program at the company where you work.
